HANS FONDELIUS

Managing Consultant, Nordic Region

Hans Fondelius was hired by Chalmers University of Technology in early 1996 as Director of Corporate Affairs for the first major gift campaign ever in Sweden. In this role Hans’ primary responsibility was to plan and co-ordinate all fundraising activities targeting the top 300 companies identified by Chalmers. The three-year campaign, which was managed by Brakeley had a target of SEK 250 million, and successfully raised a total of SEK 320 million. In June 2004 Hans joined Brakeley as a Senior Consultant based in Stockholm and became Managing Consultant for the Nordic division of Brakeley Limited in December 2004. Since he joined Brakeley Hans has provided consultancy services to clients as Helsinki University of Technology, Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Blekinge Institute of Technology, Karolinska Institutet, and Linköping University.

In addition to his fundraising experience Hans has had more than thirteen years experience in business-to-business sales and marketing in highly competitive environments. Previous to Chalmers he held positions of Market Planner, Account Executive and Manager of Market Support with Trygg-Hansa’s former division for international business insurance. He also worked as project manager in market and business development projects, e.g. at the Swedish Road Administration.

After Chalmers, Hans moved to Stockholm to join Silicon Graphics AB. There he held positions as Account Manager of the ChemPharm industry, Global Account Manager for AstraZeneca, Sales Manager for the Science business unit, and Nordic Marketing Director. He was also a member of the Swedish management team from 1998 until 2001, when he left the company to join Next Nordic AB. Since then he has held key positions in sales and marketing and been a member of the management team at both Next Nordic and the publicly listed IT technical consultancy Prevas AB, where he was Vice President of Bioinformatics before leaving and launching his own business in January 2003. As an entrepreneur Hans is a pioneer in Ideal-oriented Development, helping organisations to identify and prioritise needs for measures in order to develop the overall key factors of competitiveness. His client list includes several well known companies, such as SAS, Siemens and SEB.

Hans was brought up in Norrköping, Sweden, and spent a year as a high-school exchange student in Wyoming. As a graduate of the Gothenburg School of Economics, where he majored in Organisation, Hans also studied Business Policy during an exchange course at Concordia University in Montreal. His final thesis was a study of the business insurance industry in North America, including a one-month field trip across Canada and USA, surveying the competitive and commercial aspects of an entry into that market. Hans is also a Certified Practitioner of Neuro Linguistic Programming, or NLP, and has been engaged as a coaching instructor in Sweden. He lives with his family in Stockholm, but spends his spare time during the summer at his holiday house in the beautiful archipelago of S:t Anna.
