HELEN PERT

Senior Consultant, UK

Helen was educated in both Scotland, where she was born, and England.  She studied at Greenwich University where she graduated as a Bachelor of Business Studies and French. She also earned the Institute of Marketing Diploma.

Helen started her career in Computers and Software working in business development with large financial organisations in the City of London and then across Europe in Sweden, Norway and Greece.

Helen joined the non-profit sector in 1992, and was trained in major gift techniques by World Vision in the United States, bringing those skills back to World Vision in the UK.

Helen was then invited to work for the NSPCC, where she was instrumental in establishing a major gift department and substantially increasing income through major gift fundraising campaigns. Helen left the NSPCC in 2000 as Deputy Director of Development, having achieved substantial success in personally raising £1 million plus gifts and managing staff to achieve such gifts. Helen has extensive experience in developing Fundraising Boards to raise major gifts. This includes working with Captains of Industry, philanthropic individuals and other key influential figures such as Cherie Blair.

Since leaving the NSPCC, Helen worked as an independent Consultant providing strategic advice in the structures and processes required for developing major gift appeals. Helen also provides extensive support in relationship development management, promoting this as a significant factor in raising major gifts.

Helen provided consultancy services to UK charities including: NSPCC, Shelter, Asthma UK, John Grooms and Breakthrough Breast Cancer. She joined Brakeley in 2005.
