JOANNA TONG
Senior Consultant, UK
Joanna joined Brakeley in January 2008. Prior to this, she
was Director of Development and Marketing of Performances Birmingham, an
independent trust that manages Symphony Hall and Town Hall (reopened after £35M
restoration) inBirmingham.
Joanna first obtained her consulting experience in major gift fundraising from
late Dr Henry Drucker back to the year 2000. She provides strategic advice and
a pragmatic approach for CEO, Development Committee and senior management team
in defining the case for support, donor cultivation and recognition programme
and database management. Using a holistic approach, Joanna also helps clients
strengthen inter-departmental collaboration and improve internal and external
communications for development activities.
Throughout her career, Joanna held many senior management
positions in varied sectors. She was Director the Chinese Arts Centre and
Director of Artrage Intercultural Training Agency. In addition to the arts and
cultural sector, her experience includes regeneration, social enterprise and
economic development. She has been particularly successful in making a positive
impact in the areas of leadership development, organisational change and team
building for varied organisations. In recognition of her contribution, she won
the North West Women’s Achievement Award.
Joanna was a board member of the Prince’s Trust,Stafford. Currently she chairs the Arts and Development
Forum of Arts and Business,West Midlands. She
is also Fellow of the Royal Society for the
encouragement of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce (RSA).
Her previous clients include: the Cancer Research Campaign, the Commonwealth
Institute, Barnardo’sDublin,University ofUlster,
Welsh National Opera and Opera North.
