KATHY SELIGMAN

Senior Consultant, UK

Kathy Seligman has recently returned to Brakeley where she had worked previously in the 1990s.

A native of New Orleans, Kathy has lived in London for over twenty years. She received her undergraduate degree from Newcomb College at Tulane University in history of art and later studied law at Tulane.

Kathy began her fundraising career at Tulane where she directed specialised annual giving campaigns. She then worked with Tulane’s first major gift prospects by developing donor relations programmes and later directed the 14,000 person alumnae relations network and major gifts programme at Newcomb.  Kathy took her expertise to the New Orleans Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra where she was responsible for both annual and capital campaigns.

In her first tour of duty with Brakeley, Kathy researched prospects and conducted feasibility studies for a variety of clients including, King’s College (Cambridge), SOAS, the Charities Aid Foundation and University College London.

Time off is not something Kathy really understands.  While her two sons were growing up she ran a residential property consultancy, representing buyers in central London.  Always an active community member, Kathy has worked tirelessly as a volunteer fundraiser for a wide-ranging number of organisations, including arts organisations, medical charities and schools.

She is currently a trustee of the Capital Community Foundation and is the Chair of the trustees of Dress for Success London.  Under her leadership, Dress for Success has received grants from two separate National Lottery funds and has been successful in attracting funding from a number of grant-making trusts.  Her latest passion is raising private funds for a European tour of Floodwall, an interactive installation of drawers and their contents collected from the streets of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina’s waters receded.

Kathy has been honoured by both the Junior League of London and the United Way of New Orleans for her commitment as a volunteer.
