RALPH LEONARD
Senior Consultant,
Hong Kong
Ralph joined Brakeley in August 2005 and is currently a Senior
Consultant based in Hong Kong looking at projects around Asia Pacific.
Current and past clients include City University of Hong Kong,
the Global Leadership Forum, the International Rice Research Institute
in the Philippines, and The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
He has had
extensive cross-functional experience in all areas of profit as well as
for non-profit charitable organisations (fundraising/development,
PR/communications, general management, finance, strategy,
administration/human resources, formal and informal education,
government relations, and MIS/IT) during his 20+ years of living and
working in Hong Kong and Greater China.
Past management consultancy projects have included:
- Establishment and management of a Pan Asia charitable foundation to help address children's eye health and literacy issues for a Hong Kong based multinational corporation
- Developed cross-functional corporate social responsibility and philanthropy programmes for a global insurer and broker
- Provided expertise on charitable organisation, capacity development and internal corporate governance in Hong Kong and China.
Ralph also lectures on a broad range of university undergraduate
subjects (Organisational Behaviour, Marketing Research, Marketing/PR
Communications, Negotiation and Labour Relations) to keep current with
academic trends as well as to review and update his own extensive skill
set.
Ralph was the driving force behind Getting Back to Work Foundation
[www.jobhuntforum.com], a charitable organisation that delivered pro
bono professional career services and networking advice to
thousands of unemployed professionals and managers in Hong Kong at a
time of historically high unemployment rates.
At World Wide
Fund For Nature Hong Kong [www.wwf.org.hk], Ralph managed a US$3.25
million annual budget, grew the organisation from five staff in one
office to 55 full-time and over 120 part-time staff in four offices,
and recruited over US$35 million in individual, foundation,
governmental and corporate donations.
Ralph holds a
joint Executive MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management,
Northwestern University and Hong Kong University of Science and
Technology, he is also currently Education Programme Chair and Vice
President of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Hong Kong
Chapter, and is proficient in English, Cantonese and Putonghua (read at
Harvard and Fudan Universities).
