SARAJEAN ROSSITTO

Consultant, Japan

Sarajean Rossitto, an activist committed to progressive social change, is currently a Tokyo-based NGO and nonprofit consultant focusing on organisation and project development. She is the Tokyo representative for a number of US-Japan nonprofit projects including IE3, International Global Internships and the Japan Women’s Leadership Initiative. She is currently working with The Asia Foundation, Japan Office, and Temple University Japan's NGO program. She has also worked with Tokyo English Life Line through their incorporation process and assisted Morgan Stanley Japan’s Community Volunteer program.

Before working as a freelance consultant, Sarajean spent almost 4 years coordinating bilateral exchange of community-based activists between the US and Japan for Nichibei Community Exchange (JUCEE). Prior to her graduate studies she spent 6 years working at the Tokyo YMCA coordinating diverse programs.

Sarajean is the Convener of The People for Social Change, a diverse group of Tokyo volunteers that organise forums for volunteer skills development. She has volunteered with many different groups including Japan international Volunteer Center, Pacific Asia Resource Center, IMADR, the Run for the Cure Foundation, New York Public Interest Research Group and GMHC.

Her first job as a student organiser, she traveled the state of NY organising lobby visits, issue education sessions, press conference and grassroots trainings.

Sarajean holds a Columbia University Masters of International Affairs degree with a focus on human rights in East Asia. Her undergraduate degree is in Social theory with a focus on social movement theory health services.
