BRAKELEY GERMANY ANNOUNCEMENT
Brakeley
Ltd has announced that Dr. Marita Haibach will be stepping down as its Managing
Director in Germany on 30 September, 2007. Brakeley has formed an alliance with Munich based Gesellschaft für Strategisches
Fundraising. The two companies will pool their consulting talents to develop
the market and serve not for profit clients in fundraising.
Brakeley
Ltd, which is an international consultancy with a German branch, has advised
universities, cultural organisations and NGO’s in the German speaking countries
since 1991. Gesellschaft für Strategisches Fundraising was founded in 2005,
after its executives have been consultants in the for profit and not for profit
market since 1997. Both companies provide general advice on fundraising, but
specialise in major gifts and capital campaigns. They are the leading
consultancies in this field in Germany.
The most
successful capital fundraising campaign in Germany so far has been that
carried out for the Technische Universität München. Brakeley were the
consultancy which helped to plan and establish the campaign between 1997 and
2001. The founders of Gesellschaft für Strategisches Fundraising worked for the
university between 2000 and 2005, when they were members of the consultancy
TUM-Tech GmbH. In the first eight years of the campaign, the Technische
Universität München has raised over €100 million, far outstripping any other public
university in the German speaking region.
Dr. Haibach
has been working with Brakeley since 1998 and has been German Managing Director
since 2003. For many years she has been one of the leading figures in German
fundraising and is well known as an author and speaker. John Kelly, President
of Brakeley, commented:
“Marita Haibach has made an enormous contribution
to the development of fundraising in Germany and to the development of Brakeley’s business in Germany,
Austria and Switzerland.”
Johannes Ruzicka (pictured left), Geschäftsführer of Gesellschaft fürStrategisches Fundraising, said:
“We are very much looking forward
to working with Brakeley and building on the work of Dr. Haibach, who is

PRESS RELEASE - 30 January 2006:
THE FUTURE OF PROSPECT RESEARCH
NEW TOOLS FOR FUNDRAISING PROFESSIONALS TO IDENTIFY AND MANAGE THE RIGHT PROSPECTS EFFECIENTLY
Brakeley, in collaboration with Wealthengine.com, the largest
US donor screening company, is launching a new high quality research
tool for UK fundraisers which brings together important publicly
available information on prospective donors in one place.
The challenge facing prospect research so far in the UK is
the time-consuming and expensive task of gathering vast amounts of data
and information from different sources and then sifting and validating
it before it can be of any use. Brakeley WealthPreview and WebService
powered by WealthEngine.com provide a solution.
The WealthPreview screening service automatically searches
thousands of donor and prospect records in a matter of hours. This
provides non-profit organisations with a cost-effective mechanism to
assess large numbers of constituent records and rate them by capacity
to give. The result is a comprehensive review of a client’s prospect
pool from which significantly wealthy or influential individuals are
identified for cultivation and involvement.
The WebService provides unlimited 24 hour access (through an
online subscription) to publicly available information on constituents
in one place – the result is the very latest real-time information on
any particular prospect.
Tony Glowacki, Chief Executive Officer of WealthEngine.com, says “Brakeley
has worked closely with WealthEngine.com for over two years to develop
this product for the UK market and we are particularly pleased to be
introducing it jointly to UK fundraisers. This is a very sophisticated
and widely-used research tool in the US which helps both focus research
and assist policy makers in their development decisions”
William Conner, Brakeley’s Executive Vice President, who has over twenty
years experience of the fundraising sector in the US and Europe, adds “This new product is sorely needed in
the fast developing UK fundraising sector. It is part of the
service and philosophy behind our major gift consultancy which is to
help people integrate the research data into whatever system they are
using to obtain the optimum value out of their research
investment. This includes the uploading of data into the system,
refreshing it from time to time, and using it effectively in their
moves management strategies
The results of this innovative technique for wealth screening
and prospect identification work best as part of a sustainable
fundraising programme and with the correct technology to support it.
This is why we have added it to our portfolio of services in order to
provide our clients with as comprehensive a solution as possible.”
Brakeley is holding launch events at the London Coliseum, St
Martin’s Lane, London WC2, in February and providing one to one
demonstrations of the product. For more information email: dataservices@brakeley.com or call 020 7287 3361.
